Programme for Children
The children's programme at Annikki Poetry Festival will feature INDABA, a multicultural children's performance including dance, acrobatics and accomplished musicianship, as well as a guided Painting House workshop. The children's programme, previously held in the inner courtyard, will now move to the open-to-all Annikki Festival Park and become free of charge — welcome!
INDABA performance for children
Powerful singing and dancing, masterful solos, polyrhythmic bamboo flute moments and having fun together! All this is in store as two multi-instrumentalists and a Finnish breakdance champion join forces. INDABA is a fast-paced and captivating show where we gently explore questions of identity with the audience: what does it feel like to be Finnish or African – or both? How can many identities fit into one person?
The performance draws from Tanzanian tradition, hip hop culture and the performers’ own imaginations. The concert features speaking and singing in Finnish, English, Swahili and Sumbwa. The performers: Pietari Kauppinen (dance, vocals, flute and MPC), Ayla Brinkmann (vocals and flutes) and Kasheshi Makena (vocals, bongo drums, timbila, flute and trombone).
Painting House
An entire house awaits artists big and small! Let’s paint the large canvas walls together in bright colors and peek through the windows to see what’s happening on the other side. Suitable for all ages – even the youngest in the family. The brush paints used are water-soluble and washable. The house painting is led by Rafael Järvinen.
